A New York-based early-stage venture firm founded by former executives for Plaid and Robinhood has closed on $75 million in capital commitments, TechCrunch reports. Exponent Founders Capital, which is emerging from stealth mode today, will use the fund to invest in “early-stage companies in enterprise software, fintech and payments, infrastructure, applied AI, and vertical SaaS throughout the US, Canada, and Europe.”

In the past two years, the firm has raised more than $200 million for its funds and has already made investments in 20 portfolio companies. The team includes co-founders Charley Ma and Mahdi Raza, who both previously worked in the technology space, Ma as an executive at fintech company Plaid for about five years, and Raza as head of growth, payments, and scalability at stock trading service Robinhood.
The fund is backed by a number of prominent limited partners, including Carnegie Mellon University, Cook Children’s Health Care System, LGT Capital Partners, and Next Legacy Partners.
